Who is Jesus?
To put it very simply, Jesus Christ, is God's Son! Jesus and God are one. God came down to Earth in the flesh as Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was fully human and fully God.
Why did Jesus (God's Son) come down to Earth?
God sent Jesus Christ to Earth because we (you and I) are sinners. Romans 6:23 in the Bible says, "The wages of our sin is death, but the FREE gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Meaning our sin seperates us from God, but Jesus took our place on the cross and died for our sins so that we can know God in this lifetime and spend an eternity with Him in heaven.
What did Jesus accomplish?
A lot! Making it simple...
Jesus Christ was born (fully human and fully God)
He lived a perfect life (never sinned)
Died for our sins on a cross
Rose from His grave 3 days later
Ascended to Heaven
Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension created a new way to have a relationship with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit is the power that makes God's grace active in believers' lives (see John 14: 15-31 and John 16:4-15)
How do I put my faith in Jesus & receive the gift of eternal life?
Say this prayer and believe it with your entire heart:
"Dear God, I know I have sinned and need forgiveness. I believe Jesus died for my sin. Forgive my sin and put me right with You. I will follow Jesus as my Lord and obey Him in all I do. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen."
You entered God's family by a Spiritual Birth:
You can be certain you have eternal life because...
Because you have been born again. The Bible says, "Whatever is born of the flesh, is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again" (john 3:6-7)
Because of your commitment:
-You repented of your sins (Acts 3:19)
-You placed your faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9)
-You committed your life to Jesus Christ (Romans (10:9-10)
Because of God's promise:
The Bible says, "Truly I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life" (John 5:24)
YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED BY JESUS!
So now what?
Read the Bible! Feed on God's word DAILY.
Choose a time each day that fits your schedule to read the Bible. It's very important to have a daily quiet time routine with God.
-God's Word will help you grow.
-God's Word will guide you.
-God's Word will keep you from sin. Memorize and obey it.
-Gods Word will teach you how to live. Study it.
-God's Word will inspire you. Meditate on it!
-God's Word will work. Practice it.
Prayer is essential to spiritual growth just as breath is to physical growth.
Praying is like breathing:
-As you exhale, talk to God. As you inhale, talk to God.
Talk to God (your Father, he created you!) anytime you want to worship Him!
And any time you need help, you feel lonely, you need strength, you want guidance, you are tempted, or when you sin/fail, Talk to God!
The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us ours sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9)
Find a Church!
The church is essential to spiritual growth.
-They will rejoice that you have been born again.
-They will accept and love you!
-They will encourage you and give you support.
They will teach you and train you in how to live.
-They will worship God with you.
You declare you acceptance of Christ and your new family by being baptized:
"Those who accepted his message were baptized...Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved" (Acts 2:41-47)
Baptism is a symbolic witness of your faith in the death, burial, and ressurection of Jesus Christ. It does not save you, but it does show your obediance to the example and teachings of Jesus. Jesus placed so much importance on baptism that He walked sixty miles to be baptized. Baptism is the first physical act you can do to show your gratefulness and obedience to God.
Communicating your faith to others!
This is just as important as a baby learning to communicate. As babies try to communicate, they learn and they grow. You will grow as much as you share your new life with others!
Think about it, who would be happy to know about your new birth?
Who else needs to have this experience and be saved?
To make it simple:
Feed on God's Word daily.
Breathe a prayer regularly.
Join your new church family and be baptized.
